5th Avenue – Classic Rock, der nicht altert, sondern wächst
Es gibt Bands, die verschwinden, sobald der erste Hype abflaut. Und es gibt 5th Avenue – eine Ausnahmeerscheinung, die seit über 35 Jahren beweist, dass echter Classic Rock nicht vergeht, sondern mit der Zeit nur noch intensiver wird.
Hamburg, 1989: Sechs Musiker mit einer klaren Haltung gründen eine Band, die klingen soll wie ein Presslufthammer mit Herz – kompromisslos, direkt und ehrlich. Bereits ein Jahr später stehen sie dort, wo Mythen entstehen: als Headliner beim allerersten Wacken Open Air 1990.
Keine Effekte, kein Shownebel – nur pure Energie. Eine Band, die ein ganzes Ackerfeld umpflügt. Wacken-Mitgründer Holger Hübner brachte es später auf den Punkt:
„Ihr seid ja auch Legenden.“
1994 folgt der Major-Deal mit Polydor – der Einstieg in eine neue Liga. Die Aufnahmen führen 5th Avenue in die legendären Goodnight LA Studios in Los Angeles, wo bereits Größen wie Scorpions, Whitesnake und Foreigner produziert haben. Ein Ritterschlag – und ein Ort, an dem die Band genau den Sound findet, für den sie steht.
1995 gelingt mit „Luka“ der Durchbruch: ein Top-20-Hit in den deutschen Singlecharts, ein Rocksong mitten im Mainstream. Es folgen Tourneen mit Künstlern wie DORO, SAXON und der LITTLE RIVER BAND. 1996 zieht die Band aus musikalischen und persönlichen Gründen bewusst den Stecker.
Doch die Geschichte endet nicht dort.
2012 kehrt 5th Avenue zurück – nicht als nostalgisches Projekt, sondern mit neuem Hunger. 2016 erscheint das Album „Last Greetings from the Petting Zoo“, produziert von Eike Freese (u. a. Deep Purple, Skid Row). Das Album wurde live im Studio aufgenommen und vereint neben Tracks eines zuvor unveröffentlichten Albums auch neue Kompositionen – roh, direkt und mit einem frischen, internationalen Sound.
5th Avenue stehen für kraftvollen Classic Rock mit Hymnen-Charakter: mehrstimmige Vocals, eingängige Refrains, klare Stimmen und Songs, die bleiben. Eine Band, die live ihre wahre Stärke entfaltet – unter anderem auf persönliche Einladung der HOOTERS.
2025 setzen sie ein klares Statement: Die Single „Machine Gun“ schießt ohne Umwege auf Platz 1 der Rockcharts in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz und hält sich dort wochenlang. Eine ausverkaufte Blitz-Tour sowie gefeierte Shows in Großbritannien unterstreichen eindrucksvoll ihre Live-Power und Relevanz.
Heute zählen 5th Avenue zu den besten Livebands Deutschlands und zu den stärksten Classic-Rock-Acts des Landes – nicht, weil sie es behaupten, sondern weil sie es Abend für Abend beweisen.
Im Herbst 2026 folgt das nächste Kapitel: Das neue Album erscheint – härter, größer und mit prominenter Unterstützung von Derek Sherinian und Rob Lamothe.
Das ist kein Rückblick.
Keine Nostalgie.
Das ist ein Statement.
5th Avenue sind immer noch hungrig.

5th Avenue – Classic Rock That Doesn’t Age, It Evolves
There are bands that fade away once the initial hype disappears. And then there is 5th Avenue – an exception, proving for over 35 years that true classic rock doesn’t vanish; it only grows stronger with time.
Hamburg, 1989: Six musicians with a clear vision form a band that is meant to sound like a jackhammer with a heart – uncompromising, direct, and real. Just one year later, they find themselves where legends are born: headlining the very first Wacken Open Air in 1990.
No effects, no stage fog – just pure energy. A band powerful enough to tear up an entire field. Wacken co-founder Holger Hübner later summed it up perfectly:
“You guys are legends.”
In 1994, they sign a major deal with Polydor, stepping onto a bigger stage. Recording sessions take them to the legendary Goodnight LA Studios in Los Angeles, where icons like Scorpions, Whitesnake, and Foreigner have worked. A rite of passage – and a place where 5th Avenue sound exactly like they belong.
In 1995, they break through with “Luka,” a Top 20 hit in the German single charts – a rock track right in the middle of the mainstream. Tours with artists such as DORO, SAXON, and the LITTLE RIVER BAND follow. In 1996, the band consciously pulls the plug for both musical and personal reasons.
But the story doesn’t end there.
In 2012, 5th Avenue return – not as a nostalgic act, but with renewed hunger. In 2016, they release “Last Greetings from the Petting Zoo”, produced by Eike Freese (including Deep Purple, Skid Row). The album was recorded live in the studio and combines tracks from a previously unreleased album with new compositions – raw, direct, and infused with a fresh, international sound.
5th Avenue stand for powerful classic rock with anthemic qualities: multi-layered vocals, catchy hooks, clear voices, and songs that stay with you. A band whose true strength unfolds live – even earning a personal invitation from the HOOTERS.
In 2025, they make a bold statement: the single “Machine Gun” shoots straight to No. 1 in the rock charts in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, holding its position for weeks. A sold-out lightning tour and acclaimed UK club shows underline their undeniable live power and relevance.
Today, 5th Avenue are considered one of the best live bands in Germany and among the strongest classic rock acts in the country – not because they say so, but because they prove it night after night.
The next chapter begins in autumn 2026: a new album – heavier, bigger, and featuring high-profile contributions from Derek Sherinian and Rob Lamothe.
This is not a comeback.
Not nostalgia.
This is a statement.
